The story of Moesel starts with two very good friends of 18 years:
Jacqueline Moesel – a lover of fashion, who spent countless hours of childhood drawing clothing designs, then went on to professional work in social services and social justice arenas.
Franklin Gutierrez – a passionate teacher, businessman, and entrepreneur looking for ways to enrich the lives of others and highlight the beauty of his home country, Peru.
In 2014, at a kitchen table in Austin, Texas, the two friends began talking about a new project that would bring together their various interests– designing high quality and stylish clothing for kids that would help support production and economic opportunity for skilled artisans in Lima, Peru.
Through close collaboration with the team in Lima, the first collection of Moesel sweaters, designed by Jacqueline, shipped to the U.S. in late March 2017.
Moesel Clothing will go on in the spirit of those initial kitchen table conversations, fulfilling the mission to produce well-made and cute clothing that helps to support local artisans in Peru.
All efforts are in honor of Franklin Gutierrez, a true lover of people and life, always with the biggest laughter in any room.
Our story does not end here.
