Our Story
The story of Moesel starts with two very good friends of 18 years:
Jacqueline Moesel – a lover of fashion, who spent countless hours of childhood drawing clothing designs, then went on to professional work in social services and social justice arenas.
Franklin Gutierrez – a passionate teacher, businessman, and entrepreneur looking for ways to enrich the lives of others and highlight the beauty of his home country, Peru.
In 2014, at a kitchen table in Austin,Texas, the two friends began talking about a new project that would bring together their various interests– designing high quality and stylish clothing for kids that would help support production and economic opportunity for skilled artisans in Lima, Peru.
Through close collaboration with the team in Lima, the first collection of Moesel sweaters, designed by Jacqueline, shipped to the U.S. in late March 2017.
Since that date, Moesel has grown to include collections designed specifically to highlight artisan work in Guatemala and Mexico.
Moesel now features clothing, home goods, and stuffed toys - all designed to continue the original mission of providing work for home-based artisans and small-batch production teams.
The adventure continues.
